Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work in our Minneapolis, MN office. In this position, you will work as a discipline lead or project engineer on a variety of Energy, Institutional, and Federal Projects. The successful candidate must have a good understanding of mechanical systems for a variety of project types including building mechanical systems such as: HVAC, plumbing, facilities design (boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors), piping layout, equipment selection, district & central heating and chilled water plants, campus-type utility distribution systems, industrial/process facilities, power and infrastructure retrofits and upgrades, and other energy infrastructure projects. The projects are of varying sizes and locations for industrial, higher education, utility, federal, and municipal clients.

The person in this role will have technical design responsibilities and must coordinate work with the design team and manage their work to produce high quality project documents. This individual will be expected to perform design duties with minimal supervision and have ability to communicate within a team environment.



  • Design and layout of ductwork, hydronic and air piping and DDC

  • Computer modeling/analysis of building systems

  • Equipment specification

  • Procurement

  • Construction administration / construction site duties as needed and assigned.


Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University.

  • 5-15 years of relevant experience.

  • Professional Engineering registration or the ability to obtain within 1 year.

  • Be able to gain familiarity with engineering and design software as needed. Desirable experience in: Trane TRACE, Caesar II, and Pipe-Flo Professional/Trane Pipe designer.

  • Autodesk Revit required.

  • Energy modeling experience preferred, but not required.

  • Proof of US Citizenship for Federal Contractor Compliance.

  • Ability to travel approximately 5-10% of the time (domestic and international).

  • Have a general understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Be able to perform and check engineering calculations for mechanical systems.

  • Become comfortable in sizing, selecting and specifying equipment, and coordinating information with vendors.

  • Be comfortable in performing project field site visits and backchecking drawings.
