RCS Corporation has an immediate need for is a Payroll Accountant in the Huntersville, NC office. The Payroll Accountant is responsible for bi-weekly, multi-state payroll processing and review.

Responsibilities:

  • GL functions:

-Prepare and post journal entries
-Prepare and analyze account reconciliations
-Assist with annual external audit and workman’s compensation audit

  • Payroll functions:

-Perform payroll/timesheets operations 
-Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
-Communicate with the Human Resources Department to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes
-Reconcile payroll prior to processing and validate confirmed reports
-Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
-Process correct garnishment calculations and ensure compliance
-Perform compliance procedures for unclaimed payroll checks
-Handle accurate and timely tax remittances
-Respond to employees and managers inquiries

  • Reporting functions:

-Prepare daily cash report for management
-Process accurate and timely quarterly and year-end reporting (941, W-2, W-2c, etc.)
-Prepare year-end employee-related summary report, (e.g. salary, vacation balances)
-Prepare bi-weekly report for employee 401k contributions
-Report and reconcile employee flexible plan contributions
-Assist with the preparation of other reports provided to management (e.g. monthly timesheet reports) 

  • Other functions:

-Process manual checks, wires, and ACH transfers
-Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
-Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures
-Ad Hoc analyses as needed

Skills/Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 years of experience in payroll accounting
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent skills using MS Excel, Word, Outlook
  • UKG Payroll Services experience preferred
  • Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint experience preferred
