The Plant Integration Engineer (Plant Architecture/Functional Design) will focus on functional design requirements and architecture for Nuclear Island Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs). In this role, you will act as a plant integration engineer for the client's advanced nuclear reactor projects or other highly technical projects. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate with SSC design engineers, licensing, operations and maintenance to establish plant functional requirements and optimized plant layout. The Plant Integration Engineer will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists. 


  • Integrate Plant, SSC, licensing, operational and maintenance functional requirements to establish Plant architecture
  • Optimize location of SSCs in the plant
  • Develop narratives and strategies for cross cutting plant functions
  • Align competing requirements from SSCs to establish integrated plant requirements
  • Interface with design disciplines across the Natrium team (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop plant level functional requirements and performance criteria. 
  • Interface with and support licensing activities associated with Safety Analysis Reports. 
  • Support design reviews as plant system and subsystem designs are established and refined. 

Key Qualifications and Skills  

•    B.S. degree in relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university and 8+ years direct experience with proven system design skills.
•    Experience in implementing integrated plant design of nuclear systems, including complex systems and structures.  Experience with safety related SSCs is a plus.  
•    Experience in a broad range of topics throughout a product lifecycle, including conceptual design, final design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
•    Experience with operation and maintenance of a nuclear facility.  Nuclear plant operators licensing or Naval qualification a plus.  
•    Experience in multi-discipline and multi-organization design integration required. 
•    Experience in high temperature design highly desired. 
•    Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills. 
•    Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence. 
•    Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead a design team’s effort with minimal direction. 
•    Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives. 
•    Ability to work on simultaneous tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach. 
•    Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001. 
•    The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
•    Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
