RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Substation Physical Engineer in one of the following locations: Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Iselin, NJ; Westwood/Boston, MA; Plymouth/Detroit, MI. This is a full-time, temp to potential perm contract assignment. The position will begin remote due to COVID-19. RCS offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays. Responsibilities

The office based role provides expertise in substation design and works with multi-disciplinary teams for utility and renewables clients. As part of this role, the successful candidate will lead assignments for the delivery of high voltage substations and the design/condition assessment of existing substations.

Provides:

  • Engineering/technical guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems

  • Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, monitoring and managing work activities of an engineering team

  • Thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches

  • Continuous improvement of job-related engineering technical and professional knowledge skills and performance

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Support of company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally

  • Active participant in regional weekly resource meeting (may also participate in national resource meeting as applicable)

  • Promotes inter-office collaboration/communication in sharing of knowledge, resources and work to help level utilization

  • Mentors team of engineers

 

Minimum Requirements

  • P.E. Not Required, however the candidate must be authorized and able to apply and obtain a PE License within two years.
    Passing score on the EIT exam is preferred

  • BS in Electrical Engineering preferred, other Engineering disciplines considered

  • 5+ years experience working in a consulting environment

  • Experience leading a team to perform detailed design of HV substations

  • Experience working closely with Civil, Structural, and Relay teams assuring an integrated design

  • Ability to use CDEGS and/or WinIGS (Grounding studies per IEEE80)

  • Ability to use CYMCAP

  • Ability to design lightning protection per IEEE

  • Knowledge and experience completing insulation coordination per IEEE

  • Knowledge of completing rigid bus calculations per IEEE

  • High proficiency in AutoCAD

  • You are a team player who is comfortable liaising with stakeholders internally and externally with an exceptional ability to communicate orally and through written correspondence.

  • You have a strong work ethic and take pride and accountability in your duties and accomplishments as an individual.

  • You have expansive experience in consulting environments and understand the importance of keeping all parities involved in a project updated and in the loop at all times.

  • You are a multitasker who can work on multiple projects at once.

  • You enjoy fast paced, dynamic projects and teams
