RCS Corporation has an immediate need for a Lead Survey Field Technician in Forest Hill, MD to support Oil & Gas Utility Projects.  This is a direct hire opportunity and a 100% field position with local travel around Forest Hill, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Apply proper field procedures and performing a variety of surveys such as but not limited to Topographic, Boundary, Planimetric, ALTA/NSPS, FEMA Elevation Certifications, Loaction, Right-of-Way, Control Network, GPS, profile and cross-section, Construction Stake-Out, and As-Built

  • Lead a field crew

  • Perform survey computations using trigonometry, geometry, and algebra

  • Create, reduce, and check field notes

  • Operate, check, and perform basic field adjustments on rods, compass, transits, levels, tribrachs, total stations, robotic total stations, 3D scanner, data collectors, tripods, and GPS equipment

  • Cleaning, care and use of a variety of surveying tools and equipment

  • Interact with client contacts and the public

  • Must apply company and client policies as they relate to field and operations, office workflow procedures, and problem-solving techniques

  • Record keeping and time keeping

  • Reading site plans, boundary plats, highway plans, profiles and cross sections, horizontal and vertical curves, and utility plans

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 3 – 6 years related experience

  • NSPS/CST Level 2 Required

  • NSPS/CST Level 3 Preferred

  • Background in utility field work is beneficial 

  • Must have reliable transportation and have a valid driver’s license

  • Basic working knowledge of general computer applications, including Windows and MS Office product, specifically Word and Excel

  • Ability to understand instructions and independently carry out instructed tasks

  • Able to use a measuring device and understand units of measure

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong communication and customer skills

  • Unquestioned business and personal integrity

  • Position will be 100% field work

  • Must have reliable transportation

     

     

    Working Conditions and Environmental/Physical Demands

    The position requires manual dexterity, standing, walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of a passenger truck multiple times a day, bending, kneeling, sitting for extended periods, and crouching. The employee will occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires the ability to hear, speak, and/or signal people to convey potential or actual safety hazards and exchange information to include receiving assignments or direction from co-workers and supervisors. Work is performed primarily outdoors and involves driving to and from different job sites. Some work is performed inside in a professional office setting with routine use of office equipment.
